How do you know you’re a Lolita?
Becoming a Lolita isn’t an instant of time when you suddenly graduate from being not-lolita to being Lolita. It is finding out that there is a community full of people who share the same interests that you’ve always had but didn’t know how to express to others. You don’t really become a Lolita as much as find out you are a Lolita.
Or maybe I should say that all along, you’ve had Lolita spirit. Realistically, Lolita is the name of a fashion, and you’re a Lolita when you put on your first Lolita dress…brand-name or homemade, it doesn’t matter.
Lolita is one part fashion, one part experience that cannot be forced into words.
In my world, if you say you’re a Lolita, then you’re a Lolita. Unless you are just saying it to get attention, in which case nobody likes you, Lolita or otherwise.
